Microsoft Outlook Tools for Sending PBC Requests

During the course of an audit, you will have several PBC (Prepared By Client) items that you will need to receive in order to perform your audit work.  Of course, as you are working you will inevitably have to keep track of several of these as will your client contacts.  Instead of constantly sending reminders and trying to sift through your email or to-do lists to see what is still open, I have found that the following strategy is a very good way to approach things.

Attach a Task Reminder to your Request Email

When you send your email for PBC requests, which is always a good idea so you have proof of when you send it in case they don’t respond timely, attach a task reminder.  Make sure to mark that it also shows up for the recipient so that the reminder to complete the task will happen automatically on their end.  Effectively, you have just prevented yourself from having to take time out of your day to follow up on these!
